Garden Route - Plettenberg Bay - Knysna - Sedgefield Property

In the book, Great Highways of the World, the opening paragraph reads: “ there is only one better trip in South Africa than a quick half-day drive along the Garden Route: a slow leisurely one”. For the tourist the natural beauty of the Garden Route is unsurpassed in the world, and to live on the Garden Route is a real privilege.

The low crime rate combined with the quality of life and growing economy is attracting families from the large cities, so much so that there is a continuous net migration to the area creating a buoyant property market which has, to a large extent, defied the slowdown in the property market in the country.

The Garden Route officially begins at Mossel Bay in the south west and ends at the spectacular Storms River gorge in the east. In between is a diversity of mountains, deep river gorges, lakes, indigenous forests, beautiful bays and extensive, pristine beaches. George, where the airport is located, and Mossel Bay are the biggest towns on the Garden Route and Plettenberg Bay and Knysna are the most beautiful. Sedgefield is part of the municipality of Knysna, but has its own village centre and suburbs.

The weather on the Garden Route is temperate in winter and summer with generally low humidity and rain spread over the whole year. Plettenberg Bay is reputed to have more days of sunshine than any other coastal town in the country.
